I’ve been wanting this for a few years, and since the same idea still holds up for me, I’ll pull the trigger.

Kinja'd!!!

I want to have very simple pictograms of the cars that I own. I started with the Twingo, then came the Volvo, and future cars will eventually stack up further back. I made a photoshop mockup (of the tattoo location) as well:

Kinja'd!!!

Waddaya think folks? Do any graphic designers have some more feedback?

I had some free time in my studio so I started working on it. I want to create a system which all future cars will follow. Single line weight, no filling in. Hence the nonexistent wheelwells. The Volvo has a very specific rear wheel arch so I translated that straight to the wheel itself. I don’t want to go into more detail for rims, since they might change. I don’t want to make door and other panel lines. The Twingo’s plastic bumpers are a feature for themselves, so I added those. Other prominent details I will add according to the car, to fil l in the space (Twingo’s quirky door handle and Volvo’s side trim pieces). I have a bit of a dilemma for the roof rack and canvas top on the Twingo.

Hey, uuuh... Does it hurt a lot?

The only tattoo I have that I would say really hurt is on my stomach. It a similar line design to your car art, but with thicker lines And a lot larger . The artist used an outline needle to make it look really crisp, and it took forever and hurt like hell. However, after fifteen years it still looks really crisp.

Forearm doesn’t really hurt at all. In your armpit where your shoulder and chest meet sucks. My knee caps weren’t too much fun either. I drank some vodka for those guys. Oddly enough, my chest didn’t really hurt at all. I have two fairly big pieces on my sternum going up into the very bottom of my throat and one that covers most of my left pec.

Being Croatian, I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced this, but it feels like rubbing a raspberry (baseball related skin injury) with your nails. Just a lot of burning.

The way I think about it, there are very few things I’d want tattooed on me to stay with me for the rest of my life. Cars are something that may fit that description. I’d say go for it, since you’ve clearly given it a lot of thought and those designs are simple and elegant and clearly reflect you as a person. No idea about the pain.

Eventually you may have to go down the other arm. Think of it as a built in way to prevent you from owning too many cars.

Or a traffic jam of decades past, late for a haunting.

I say Ouch to your pieces. But still quite a brave thing to do when you kinda know what you’re getting into. Thanks, when you put it in context, these will be just fine to bear.

The one tattoo idea I’ve had for year is a simple BMX bike with dynamite strapped to the top tube. From the Motion City Soundtrack song LGFUAD lyric “the bmx bike of my life is a about to  explode, I’m about to explode.” But I’ll probably never do it. Made it to 30 without any tattoos don’t see any reason to change now.

That’s one traffic jam I’ll cheer for.

The first ones are scary only because you have no idea. My first were big Xs on the backs of my arms. You kind of just have to laugh that you’re willingly putting yourself through pain, especially with the big pieces. Yours won’t take a long time, but for the multiple hour sessions you kind of just zone out and meditate.

I had a friend who would fly to Japan to get traditional Japanese hand tattoos. His whole body was covered solid in ink , except parts visible in professional work attire . He said his butt was the most painful area.
